so area of rectangle = xy

now new length = original length+25%of length

= x+(25x/100)

=x+(x/4)

= 5x/4

area must be same

therefore

new length *new breadth = xy

5x/4 * new breadth = xy

new breadth = 4y/5

decrement in breadth = original breadth - new breadth

= y - 4y/5

= y/5

=20% of original breadth
