Answer:

(12)^2 = (side1)^2 + (side2)^2

144 = S1 ^2+ (3)^2

144 = S1^2 + 9

therefore

S1^2 = 144 - 9

S1^2 = 135

S1 = √135

S1 = 3√15

Answer:

according to Pythagoras theorem

(hypotenuse)²=(base)²+(perpendicular)²

here, hypotenuse=12cm

base = 3cm

perpendicular=x

so, 12²=3²+x²

144=9+x²

144-9=x²

135=x²

√135=x

11.61=x

so perpendicular is 11.61cm
