Question

  • if the length of one of the equal sides of an isosceles triangle is 4cm and base is 2 cm then area of triangle will be

Given

  • the length of one of the equal sides of an isosceles triangle is 4cm

That means

  • a = 4cm
  • b = 4cm
  • c ( base ) = 2cm

Now,

semi perimeter = (a+b+c)/2

S = 4 + 4 + 2 / 2

S = 10/2

S = 5cm

By heron's Formula

\tt→ \sqrt{s(s-a)(s-b)(s-c)}</p><p>\\ \tt→ \sqrt{5(5-4)(5-4)(5-2)}</p><p>\\ \tt→ \sqrt{5(1)(1)(3)}</p><p>\\ \tt→ \sqrt{15}\:cm^2

Hence

  • The area of ∆ is √15 sq.cm
