Let the length and breadth of rectangle B be x and y respectively and by the given condition the length and breadth of rectangle A is x/2 and y/2 respectively.
∴ area of rectangle A = x/2 * y/2
= xy/4 ------------------ 1
area of rectangle B = x*y
= xy --------------------- 2
∴ ratio of areas of rectangle A:B = xy/4: xy
= 1 : 4
∴ area of rectangle A = x/2 * y/2
= xy/4 ------------------ 1
area of rectangle B = x*y
= xy --------------------- 2
∴ ratio of areas of rectangle A:B = xy/4: xy
= 1 : 4
