Answer:

I think you want to ask find 'a'

if I am right

then

(2,4) take it as pont A. where x1=2 ,y1=4

(-2,a) as point B. where x2=-2 ,y2=a

and distance=5unit

and we know the distance formula

that is

distance =   \sqrt{ {(x2 - x1)}^{2} +   (y2 - y1)} {}^{2}

5=√[{(-2)-2}² +{a-4}²]

5=√[{-4}² +{a²+4²-2×a×4]

by squaring both side

25=16+{a²+16-8a}

25-16=a²+16-8a

a²-8a+16-9=0

a²-8a+7=0

a²-7a-a+7=0

a(a-7)-1(a-7)=0

(a-7)(a-1)=0

if a-7=0

a=7

a-1=0

a=1

so we can take 7 or 1 as answer

please mark me as brainlist it is too important for me
