If the length of the rectangle is (4c + 2y) cm and it’s width is (4x - 2y) cm. Find it’s area
1) in terms of x and y
2) when x = 4 and y = 2

Sandrine2001: Isn’t (4x + 2y) ?

Hi

1) (4x + 2y ) ( 4x - 2y)
= 16x^2 - 4y^2

2) 16 * 4^2 - 4 * 2^2
= 16 * 16 - 4 * 4
= 246 - 16
= 230

I hope it helps you ;)
