Solution:

If length of the square shaped room is
(x - 2y) \: units\\
We know that square shape has all sides equal.

Perimeter:
➖➖➖➖

Perimeter of square = 4a

here side of square is (x-2y)

so,

perimeter = 4(x - 2y) \\ \\ = 4x - 8y \: \: units \\

Area:
➖➖➖
Area of square:
 {a}^{2} \: {unit}^{2} \\

for the given room,area is
= {(x - 2y)}^{2} \\ \\ = {x}^{2} + 4 {y}^{2} - 4xy \: {unit}^{2} \\

Hope it helps you.
