if the lengthof the side of asquare is doubled what is the ratio of the areas of the original square to the area of the new square

length of the side = x
length after doubling the side = 2x
area of square=x²
area of square after doubling the side=(2x)²= 4x²
ratio = x²/4x²=1/4=1:4
