Solution:

if the less than type ogive and more than type ogive intersect each other a (42 18)

x - axis generally show the Values

y - axis shows frequency

Median is the x value in intersection point

y  axis show  the 50%  frequency  at the median

Then Median  = 42

18 shows  the 50% cumulative frequency  hence 36 is total Cumulative frequency

if pint have been ( 18 , 42)  then median would have been 18

The less than ogive curve gives cumulative frequency (probability) for x ≤ a.

The more than ogive curve gives cumulative frequency (probability) for x ≥ a.

cumulative frequency will be 50% of the total at intersection of the more than ogive and less than ogive

which is Median

As we know that Median is middle data when data is arranged ascending/descending

so  cumulative frequency will be 50%  at Median
