Given : linear function f passes through the point (–6, –13) in the xy-plane, and f (2) = 3,

To Find :  y-intercept of f

Solution:

linear function f(x) = ax + b

passes through the point (–6, –13)

=>  f(-6) = - 13

=> -13  =  -6a  + b

f (2) = 3

=>  3  = 2a  + b

=> 16  = 8a

=> a = 2

3 = 2(2) + b

=> b = - 1

f(x) = 2x  -  1

y-intercept  when x = 0

=> f(0) = 2(0) - 1

= - 1

y-intercept of f    = - 1
