Given:

Magnification of a mirror is given as -1.5

To find:

  • Name of mirror
  • Nature of image
  • Whether image is magnified or diminished?

Calculation:

Since the magnification is provided as -1.5 , we can get the following information about the image formed by the mirror :

  • Image is magnified

  • Image is inverted

  • Image is real

1. From these information , we can say that the mirror is a concave mirror.

2. Nature of image is real , inverted and magnified.

 \sf{magnification =  - 1.5}

  \sf{=  >   \dfrac{h_{i}}{h_{o}}  =  - 1.5}

  \sf{=  >  h_{i}  =  - 1.5 \times h_{o}}

  \sf{=  >  h_{i}   >  h_{o}}

3. So image is magnified and has higher dimensions as compared to the object.
