+3 already tells you two things: erect (+) and magnified (>1). If you use a single lens, not a lens system, the image will be virtual. (But even in a lens system the case of a real erect magnified image with using a positive focal length is almost impossible to come by)
So if you look through the lens onto the object (which will be close to the focal point of the lens, a bit closer even), you will see the image of the object behind/inside the lens (even behind the object if you check the distances with your thumb).
