QUESTION :-

If the marked price of an article is 900, how much will the customer have to pay for it if the shopkeeper gives a discount of 10% and the sales tax is 5%?

ANSWER :-

Discount = 10% of MP

Discount = rs 10/100 × 900 = rs 90

Net sales price =

→ MP - Discount

→ rs (900 - 90) = rs 810

ST on rs 810 @ 5% =

→ rs 5/100 × 810

→ rs 40.50

Total amount to be paid for the article

→ rs 810 + rs 40.50 = rs 850.50

Hence customer has to pay rs 850.50
