Given -

The mass of a moving body is doubled .

To find -

Find how many times the kinetic energy of the body will increase .

Solution -

We know that for a body with a mass of m , and moving with a velocity of v ,

The kinetic energy of the body is ½ m v².

Now ,

The mass of the given body is doubled .

The new mass becomes 2m .

Thus ,

The New Kinetic Energy -

=> ( 1 / 2 ) × ( 2m ) × ( v ² )

=> m v^²

This is double the initial kinetic energy of the body.

This is the required answer .
