Given :

  • Mass of two bodies ; m₁ = 20 kg and m₂ = 50 kg
  • distance between two bodies, d = 10 m

To find :

  • Attraction force between given two bodies = gravitational force between the bodies, F = ?

Knowledge required :

  • Every body in the universe exert an attraction force on every other body in the universe, this force is known as Gravitational force between the bodies.

  • Formula to calculate Gravitational force (F) between two bodies of masses m₁ and m₂ , where d is the distance between the two bodies and G is universal gravitational constant

       F = G m₁ m₂ / d²

Solution :

  • Taking value of G = 6.67 × 10⁻¹¹ N m² / kg²

Using formula for calculating Gravitational force b/w two bodies

→ F = G m₁ m₂ / d²

→ F = (6.67 × 10⁻¹¹ ) ( 20 ) ( 50 ) / ( 10 )²

→ F = 6670 × 10⁻¹¹ / 10²

F = 6670 × 10⁻¹³  N

→ F =  6.67 × 10¹⁰ N

therefore,

  • the attraction force ( or gravitational force ) between the two given bodies is 6.67 × 10⁻¹⁰ Newton.
