Mean is the average of a given set of data which we get when we calculate the sum of all observations and divide it by the total number of observations.

Median is the middlemost observation in the data which we get by arranging the observations from ascending to descending order and selecting the appropriate middle value.

Mode is the most repeated observation in the data.

To find mode when the mean and median is given, we use the emperical relationship between mean, median and mode.

  • 3 Median = Mode + 2 Mean

Mean = 8.7

Median = 8.8

Substituting them in the formula,

3(8.8) = Mode + 2(8.7)

26.4 = Mode + 17.4

26.4 - 17.4 = Mode

9 = Mode

Therefore, the mode is 9.
