\LARGE{\bf{\underline{\underline{GIVEN:-}}}}

  • The mean of the observations 10, 19, P, 12, 16,5 is 7.5

\LARGE{\bf{\underline{\underline{TO \ FIND:-}}}}

  • Value of P.

\LARGE{\bf{\underline{\underline{SOLUTION:-}}}}

We know that:

\to \boxed{\sf{\blue{\overline{Mean}=\dfrac{Sum \ of \ observations}{Total \ number \ of \ observations} }}}

Here,

⇒ Mean is 7.5

⇒ Sum of observations → 10+19+P+12+16+5 = 62+P.

⇒ Number of observations are 6.

So,

\to \sf 7.5=\dfrac{62+P}{6}

\to \sf 45=62+P

\to \sf{\red{P=-17}} \red{\bigstar}

The value of P is -17.

Answer:

Mean= Sum of all items/ number of items

Sum of all items= 10+ 19 +P+ 12 +16 +5

                          = 29 + P +33

                           = 62+P .....(1)

Mean = 7.5

Number of items= 6

Therefore value= 7.5x6= 45,,,,,,(2)

Equating the two (1) & (2)

62+P = 45

=> P= - 62+45

     = - (-)17

Find the value of P.= (-17)
