• Mean of the given observations = 15

$\implies{\sf{15= \dfrac{10 + 12 + 18 + 13 + p+17}{6}}}$

$\implies{\sf{15= \dfrac{70+ p }{6}}}$

• By cross multiplication :

$\implies{\sf{15 \times 6 = 70+p}}$

$\implies{\sf{90= 70 + p}}$

• Transposing 70 to left side :

$\implies{\sf{90 - 70 = p}}$
