Mean=Sum of all observations/Total number of observations
11=x+x+2+x+4+x+6+x+8/5
11=5x+20/5
55=5x+20
5x=35
x=7
Last three observations =7+4,7+6,7+8=11,13,15
Mean of last three observations=11+13+15/3
Mean of last three observations=39/3=13

gayithri: Tq guys you are right and I found that the answer given as 7 in my book is a mistake! The publishers were very irresponsible. Anyhow thanks it helped me a looooot :)
