5x+20=11×5
5x=55-20
x=7

5 observations = x, x + 2, x + 4, x + 6, x + 8
So, x + x + 2 + x + 4 + x + 6 + x + 8 = 55
=> 5x + 20 = 55
=> 5x = 55 - 20
=> 5x = 35
=> x = 35/5
=> x = 7
Now the first three observations = 7 (x) , 9 (x+2), 11 (x + 4)
Their mean
= 7 + 9 + 11/ 3
= 27/3
= 9
