26+p=40

mean =  \frac{sum \: of \: observations}{number \: of \: observatons}


Here,


8 =  \frac{6 + 4 + 7 + p + 10}{5}  \\  \\ 8 \times 5 = 27 + p \\  \\ 40 = 27 + p \\  \\ 40 - 27 = p \\  \\ 13 = p
