If the mean of 6, 4, 7, s and 10 is 8, find the value of s.

Method of Solution :


Formula of Mean = Sum of observation/Number of Observation


Here , Sum of Observation = 6 + 4 + 7 + S + 10

Total Number of Observation = 5

Mean = 6 + 4 + 7 + S + 10 / 5

8 = 10 + 7 + S + 10/5

8 = 20 + 7 + S /5

8 = 27 + S /5

8*5 = 27 + S

40 = 27 + S

40 - 27 = S
