mean =   \frac{sum \: of \: observations}{number \: of \: observations}

therefore,

 \frac{8 + 2 + x + 6 + 5}{5}  = 6

8 + 2 + x + 6 + 5 = 30

21 + x = 30

x = 30 - 21 = 9

so , x=9

The value of x is "9".

Step-by-step explanation:

The \ given \ series \ is:\\8, 2, x, 6, 5\\ Mean=6\\As \ we \ know,\\Mean=\frac{Sum \ of \ observations}{Number \ of \ observations} \\On \ putting \ the \ values \ in \ the \ above \ formula,we \ get\\6=\frac{8+2+x+6+5}{5}\\6=\frac{21+x}{5}\\ On \ applying \ cross \ multiplication,we \ get\\6*5=21+x\\30=21+x\\On \ subtracting \ "21" \ from \ both \ sides, we \ get\\30-21 =21+x-21\\x=9
