Answer:

Step-by-step explanation :

In this question Mean is already given is 13.

And the number of observation is 6.

So, 13×6=78.

6y+24=78

6y=78-24

6y=54

y=9.

Given :- If the mean is 13 . find the value of y .(y, y+1, y+4, y+6, y+8, y+5) ?

Solution :-

we know that,

  • Mean = (sum of observations) / (Total number of observation)

here , we have given that,

  • Observations are = (y, y + 1, y+4, y+6, y+8, y+5)
  • Number of observations = 6
  • Mean = 13 .

so,

→ Mean = (sum of observations) / (Total number of observation)

→ 13 = (y + y + 1 + y+4 + y+6 + y+8 + y+5) / 6

→ 13 * 6 = 6y + 24

→ 78 = 6y + 24

→ 6y = 78 - 24

→ 6y = 54

→ y = (54/6)

→ y = 9 (Ans.)

Hence, value of y will be 9.
