  • The mean of the frequency distribution is given as 8.
  • Given table is -

x  3  5  7   9  11 13

f   6  8 15  p   8  4

  • Now the mean for the table is calculated by  

mean  = \frac{\sum f_i.x_i}{\sum x_i}

Now , we evaluate  \sum f_i.x_i = 18+40+105+9p+88+52 = 303+9p

Now,  \sum x_i = 6+8+15+p+8+4 = 41+p

Substituting values , we get

8 =  \frac{\sum f_i.x_i}{\sum x_i} = \frac{223+9p}{41+p}

328 +8p = 303+9p

p = 25
