mean= sum of observation/no of observation

14=6+10+12+x+16/5

14=44+x/5

14(5)=44+x

70=44+x

x=70-44

X=26

Answer:

The value of x  is equal to 26 for the given data.

Step-by-step explanation:

We have given the data : 6, 10, 12, x, 16

The mean of these values = 14

Mean can be determined by dividing the sum of the observations to the number of observations.

Mean = (sum of observations)/(number of observations)

⇒      14=\frac{6+10+12+x+16}{5}

⇒      14*5=44+x

⇒      x=70-44

∴       x=26

Therefore the value of x equals 26.
