mean=sum of observations /no of observations
24=x+x+2+x+4+x+6+x+8/5
120=5x+20
x= 20

Answer:

x = 20

Explanation:

Given observations :

x,x+2,x+4,x+6,x+8

mean of the observations = 24

 \boxed {Mean\\ = \frac{Sum \: of \: the \: observations}{number\:of\:observations}}

Here ,

\implies mean=24

\implies \frac{(x+x+2+x+4+x+6+x+8)}{5}=24

\implies \frac{(5x+20)}{5}=24

\implies \frac{5(x+4)}{5}=24

\implies x+4=24

\implies x = 24-4

\implies x = 20

Therefore,

x = 20
