Given : the measure of one angle of an isosceles triangle is 40 degree,

To Find : another angle of the triangle can not  measure

• 40 degree

• 70 degree

• 80 degree

• 100 degree

Solution:

one angle of an isosceles triangle is 40 degree,

There can be two case :

1.  Given angle 40°  is opposite to one of the equal side

2.  Given angle 40°  is opposite to  unequal side

Angle opposite to equal sides are equal

Sum of angles of triangle is 180°

Case 1.  Given angle 40°  is opposite to one of the equal side

Hence  angle opposite to other equal side = 40°

Hence another angle can be 40°

40° + 40° + 3rd angle = 180°

=> 3rd angle = 100°

Hence another angle can be 100° also

Case 2 :   Given angle 40°  is opposite to  unequal side

Angles opposite to equal sides = y

Hence y + y + 40° = 180°

=> y = 70°

another angle can be 70° also

40° , 70° , 100°  are possible measure of another angle

Hence  in the given option 80° can not be measure of another angle

Answer:

• 70 degree

If the vertex angle of an isosceles triangle is 40 deg, the other two angles will be (180–40)/2 = 140/2 = 70 deg each. Answer.
