if the measurements of sides of a square are doubled, what happens to the area

Let,

Side of square=x

Area=x^2

Thus,if side is doubled,

Then new side=2x

Thus area with 2x=(2x)^2

=4x^2

We know 4x^2 is of 4 times of x^2.

Thus we now know that of side of square is doubled then area will increase by 4.
