Given data : 2,4,5,x,2x,3x,5x,8x+1
Number of terms ( n ) = 8 ( even )
Median = average ( n/2 , n/2 + 1 )th term
= average ( 4 , 5 ) th terms
= ( x + 2x )/2
= 3x/2 ----( 1 )
But
median = 16 ( given ) ---( 2 )
( 1 ) = ( 2 )
=> 3x/2 = 16
=> 3x = 32
=> x = 32/3
