x=35

Step-by-step explanation:

finding median has two ways. It has different method according to the number of terms and here number of terms are 8 which is an even number so for the even number of terms

median = [(n/2)^th term + (n/2+1)^th term] /2

here n is the number of terms

median = [(8/2)^th term + (8/2+1)^th term]/2

median = [4th term +5th term ]/2

median = [x + x+10]/2

median = 2x+ 10/2

here median is given 40

so 2x+10/2=40

now,

2x+10=80

x = 80-10/2

x= 70 /2

x=35
