The value of x is 31.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : If the median of data in ascending order 30,32, 49,50,2x,2x+2,73,78,85,96 is 63.

To  find : The value of x ?

Solution :

Since the numbers are even then the median is given by,

M=\frac{1}{2}[\frac{n}{2}^{th}+(\frac{n}{2}+1)^{th}  ]

Here, M=63 and n=10

63=\frac{1}{2}[\frac{10}{2}^{th}+(\frac{10}{2}+1)^{th}]

63=\frac{1}{2}[5^{th}+6^{th}]

5th term is 2x and 6th term is 2x+2.

63=\frac{1}{2}[2x+2x+2]

63=\frac{1}{2}[4x+2]

63=2x+1

2x=62

x=\frac{62}{2}

x=31

Therefore, the value of x is 31.
