Answer:

48

Step-by-step explanation:

median is (n+1)/2th observation as n= odd. so you can equate x+2 with 50 so you'll get your answer.

The value of x is 48.

If the median of the observation 19 , 21 , 23 , 35 , 47, (x + 2) , 71 , 79 , 80, 92 , 95 arranged in ascending order is 50.

We have to find the value of x.

median :

  • It represents the middle value of a group.
  • It is the point at which the half of the data is more and the half of data is less.
  • It helps to represent large number of data into a single data, that's why it is the easiest and one of the most appropriate methods to understand the statistical data.

To find it,

arrange the data in ascending or descending form.

now, If no of observations is even, use formula

\frac{\left(\frac{n}{2}\right)th+\left(\frac{n}{2}+1\right)th}{2}

If no of observations is odd, use formula,

\left(\frac{n+1}{2}\right)th

now let's come to the point.

here data is already arranged in ascending order.

i.e., 19 , 21 , 23 , 35 , 47, (x + 2) , 71 , 79 , 80, 92 , 95

no of observations = 11 (odd)

∴ median = [(11 + 1)/2]th = 6th term

⇒50 = (x + 2)

⇒x = 48

Therefore the value of x is 48.
