Medulla is associated with important involuntary organs of our body like heart,lung etc.Therefore damage of medulla cause stoppage of signals to lungs and heart.Due to this oxygen doesn't reach the tissues and heart won't pump the blood.Hence the person may die due to heart attack due to lack of oxygen supply.
