हल : प्रश्नानुसार (28 – x), संख्याओं (23 – x) तथा (19 – x) का मध्य समानुपाति पद है।

∴ 28 − x / 23 − x = 23 − x / 19 − x

अंतरानुपात द्वारा,

(28 − x) - (23 − x) / 23 − x = (23 − x) - (19 − x) / 19 − x

28 − x - 23 − x / 23 − x = 23 − x - 19 − x / 19 − x

∴ 5 / 23 − x = 4 / 19 − x

∴ 5(19 – x) = 4 (23 – x)

∴ 95 - 5x = 92 – 4x

∴ - 5x + 4x = 92 - 95

∴ - x = - 3

∴ x = 3.
