Answer:

The value of x should be 5.

Firstly reordering the data in ascending order we will have the following series.

4 , 4 , 5 , 5 , 5 , 7 , 8 , 8 , 8 , x

As per the definition of mode i.e.

Definition: The mode of a set of data is the value in the set that occurs most often.

Both 5 and 8 are repeated thrice in the above series and if the mode value is 5 then number x should be 5 , so that it occurs four times , hence satisfying the result .

5

Mode = The value in a set of data that appears most often = 5

Set of Data = 5, 8, 4, 5, 5, 8, 4, 7, 8, x

Current highest frequency of any number = THRICE (both 5 & 8)

For 5 to be the MODE it has to singularly appear the most Number of times (i.e. FOUR TIMES) and therefore x = 5

Answer:

5 repeated 3 times only and it is the mode of data. the n 8 also repeated 3 times so it can also be the mode.

So, if 5 should be the mode of data then value of x should be 5

so, it's your answer.....
