Therefore,

New Momentum =

= p−p×30% = 0.7p

New Kinetic Energy =

=> (0.7p)²/2m = 0.49p²/2m = 0.245p²/m

Net decrease or difference in Kinetic energy

= (0.5p²/m)−(0.245p²/m)

= 0.255p²/m

Hence, Percentage (%) decrease in Kinetic Energy

= {(Decrease or Difference In KE) ÷ (Initial KE)} × 100

= {(0.255p²/m) ÷ (0.5p²/m)} × 100
