If momentum of a body increases by 50% by what % its K.E. change?

ANSWER

Let the initial momentum be Pi =P

Final momentum PP =1.5P

Initial kinetic energy K.E i = 2mp 2

Final kinetic energy K.Ef= 2mp f2f = 2m(1.5P) 2

=2.25K.E i

Percentage increase in kinetic energy

K.E f−K.E i/K.E i×100= 2.25−1/1 ×100=125 %
