if the movement of the plates continue, what do you think the plates in the globe will look like another 10 million years from now?
Answers
Long ago, earth was a supercontinent, currently it isn't. Due to the movement of plates, the continents are separating. After 10 million years from now the Earth may not even exist, but even if it did it would look like small cities scattered around the globe, due to the movement of plate tectonics
In the long run, by continuing to shift the contents about and changing the ocean basins. Volcanic eruptions and earthquakes will continue in the near future.
Explanation:
Plate tectonics is the movement of continents on a span of billions of years. Plates move at roughly the same speed as your fingernails, so it's a slow process. This isn't necessary a gradual, continuous movement, though. Plates can become locked for hundreds of years before releasing with a tremendous snap, causing massive earthquakes in the afflicted areas. On a more immediate time frame, earthquakes indicate that the plates are still moving about, and we should expect more of them in the future.
