Correct question : If nth term of an Arithmetic Progression is aₙ = 4n - 2 then its 5th term is

Given :

nth term of an Arithmetic Progression is aₙ = 4n - 2

To find :

The 5th term of the arithmetic progression

Solution :

Step 1 of 2 :

Write down nth term of the Arithmetic progression

Here it is given that nth term of an Arithmetic Progression is given by

aₙ = 4n - 2 - - - - - (1)

Step 2 of 2 :

Find 5th term of the arithmetic progression

Putting n = 5 in both sides of Equation 1 we get

a₅ = (4 × 5) - 2

⇒ a₅ = 20 - 2

⇒ a₅ = 18

∴ 5th term of the arithmetic progression
