Question:

If the number B is 10% less than another number C and C is 5% more than 150 , then find the value of B.

Answer:

B = 141.75

Solution:

As per the question, we have;

B is 10% less than C .

=> B = C - 10% of C

=> B = C - (10/100)•C

=> B = C - C/10

=> B = (10•C - C)/10

=> B = 9•C/10 ----------(1)

Also;

C is 5% more than 150.

=> C = 150 + 5% of 150

=> C = 150 + (5/100)•150

=> C = 150 + 5•150/100

=> C = 150 + 15/2

=> C = 150 + 7.5

=> C = 157.5 ----------(2)

From eq-1 and 2 , we have;

=> B = 9•C/10

=> B = 9•157.5/10

=> B = 9•15.75

=> B = 141.75

Hence,

The required value of B is 141.75

→ It is given that , B is 10% less than C.

That , Means ,

→ it is given that C is 5% more than 150.

That Means ,

C = (100+5)% of 150

Hence, value of B is 141.75 ..
