Let the price of sugar per kg be x then :

If it decreases by 5 we have :

x - 5

The amount when price is x

150/x

When the price is (x - 5)

150/(x - 5)

This is 1 kg more :

Hence :

150/x + 1 = 150x/(x - 5)

150 + x = 150/(x - 5)

150(x - 5) + x(x - 5) = 150x

150x - 750+ x² - 5x = 150x

x² - 5x - 750 = 0

The roots are - 30 and 25

(x +25)(x - 30) = 0

x = - 25 or 30
