When n" capacitors are connected in series, the equivalent capacitance is C (series) = C /n .

And when n" capacitors are connected in parallel, the equivalent capacitance is

C (parallel) = n C

Now,

C (series)/ C (parallel) = (C /n ) / ( n C)

= 1 / .
