If the numbers p-1, 2p and 3p+1 are in A.P., find the value of p.

Hey, here is your answer:
p=0

According to an AP, difference between second and first term= difference between third and second term and so on.
Therefore, (2p)-(p-1)= 3p+1 -2p
Simplify it and you shall get 0=0.
Hence assume the value of p as 0 and substitute it

Let p-1=a,2p=b,3p+1=c.
Acc to AP
2b=a+c
2×2p=p-1+3p+1
4p=4p
I think there is little bit wrong with numbers you have entered
