→ given observations in ascending order are = 19, 24, 27, 28, X+2, 35, 38, 42, 43 = Total 9 = Odd number .

now we know that, When total number of observations are n , where n is an odd number , then,

  • Median = (n + 1)/2 th term of the observation .

so,

→ Median = (n + 1)/2 th term

→ Median = (9 + 1)/2 th term

→ Median = 10/2 th term

→ Median = 5th term .

now,

→ 5th term in ascending order is = (x + 2)

and,

→ Median = 31

therefore,

→ (x + 2) = 31

→ x = 31 - 2

→ x = 29 (C) (Ans.)

Hence, value of x is equal to 29 .
