If the ordered pairs (a,−1) and (5,b) belong to {(x,y):y=2x−3}, find the values

y=2x−3

⇒−1=2a−3

⇒2a=−1+3=2

∴a=22=1

y=2x−3

b=2×5−3

⇒b=10−3=7

∴b=7
