Please change the given number you will get your answer

Let the first number be x

second number be (x+15) // one exceed other by 15 //

sum of the number is given by x+(x+15) = 95

x+x+15=95

2x+15 = 95

2x =95-15

2x = 80

x=80/2

x =40

first number x=40, second number x+15 = 40+15= 55

The numbers are 40 and 55.

Answer:

One number, x = 27.5

Another number, y = 22.5

Step-by-step explanation:

Let one number be x and another number be y.

  • First condition states that one number exceeds the other number by 5 i.e.;

                     x = y + 5 -------- [Equation 1]

  • Second condition states that sum of two number is 50, i.e.;

                     x + y = 50

                    y + 5 + y = 50    {using 1}

                      2*y = 50 - 5

                       y = 45/2 = 22.5

Putting y in equation 1 , we get x 22.5 + 5 = 27.5 .
