Question :

If the ordered pairs (a + 2,4) and (5, 2a+b) are equal then (a,b) is

1) (2, -2)

2) (5, 1)

3) (2, 3)

4) (3, -2)

Given :

  • (a + 2,4) and (5, 2a+b) are equal.

To find :

  • (a,b)

Solution :

(a + 2,4) = (5, 2a+b)

Therefore :-

 \implies \: a + 2= 5

 \implies \: a = 5 - 2

 \implies \: a = 3

Now again :-

 \implies \: 4 = 2a + b

put a = 3

 \implies \: 4 = (2 \times 3) + b

\implies \: 4 = 6 + b

\implies \: 4 - 6= b

\implies \: - 2= b

\implies \:b = - 2

(a,b) = (3 , -2)

Answer :

option 4) (3, -2) is correct.
