Answer:

a = 3. ; b = -1

since it is said that the point (a, -7) lies on the new Y-axis

the x- cordinate should be equal to three and the y-cordinate can be any real number

and it is also said that (3,b) lies on the new X-axis therefore the y-cordinate should be equal to -1 to satisfy (3,-1) as the new origin.

therefore a = 3 and b = -1

Answer:

Origin (−5,9)

Axes will become, x−axis=>y=9

y−axis=>x=−5

For point (3,b) on x-axis =>ordinate, b=9 (as y=9)

for point (9,3) on y-axis absscicca, a=−5 (as x=−5)
