let x be the common multiple of given ratio

therefore, 1x and 4x are the linear angles

1x + 4x = 180° ( sum of linear pairs is 180°)

5x = 180°

x = 180°/5

x= 36°

therefore , put x=36

value of first angle=1x = 1 ×36=36°

value of second angle= 4x = 4 × 36°= = 144°

to verify whether they are linear angles or not, you may add both the angles and there sum will be 180°

36°+144°=180°

so you have got the final answer
